The Team

Bob West, Avingtons Owner

To run a fishery the size and stature of Mighty Avington takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Every aspect of the fishery has to be considered and a game plan put into operation. This is by no means easy and it's a measure of the team that everything is made to appear so.

We have turned the clock back a few years recently with the re-introduction of our own hatchery. Not since Sam Hollands day have fry been hatched at Avington, and it is my ardent belief that by re-introducing the hatchery, Avington will be better able to control both the quality and the quantity of fish needed to maintain our standards. We anticipate not only producing enough for our own needs, but hopefully will supply a few other friendly fisheries.

Sam Seall

Joined us as Fishery Director on the 1st of August 2006. Anyone who fished at Meon Springs fly fishery in Hampshire will remember Sam for the great job he did putting Meon Springs on the map during the six years he was there.

His knowledge of the game fishing industry together with other country sports and, in particular, gun dogs is unsurpassed. He complements the team of Dorjee, and Tom and should you need any information on flies, stalking techniques, etc, he will be only to happy to help.

Dorjee

The Grounds Manager of Avington Trout Fishery. He will from time to time overlap his day to day work with helping other members of the team as they will, helping Dorjee.

Avington Trout Fishery is probably the best staffed, best equipped and best funded Fishery in the UK and with Dorjee being responsible for all the grounds, both on top of, and under the water, you will find the pleasure of your days fishing here enhanced.

Tom Haggett

We are delighted that Tom has joined us.  He may be known to some of you as he has worked here on many occasions over the years.

Tom achieved his Fishery Management and Aquaculture degree at Sparsholt College in 2009, but is recognised not just for his academic achievements but also for his practical qualifications and knowledge.

Tom has good experience of both fishery and fish farm work and will be responsible for maintaining the full finned, deep chested, hard fighting fish that we pride ourselves upon at Avington.

An avid angler himself, Tom will always be pleased to help, guide and give you the benefit of his knowledge and particularly the specialised skills of stalking the large Avington trout.

Famous for its clear water stalking and big fish...
